The State Port Pilot Neighbors t was not the most significant event in the history of Southport harbor -J_but it certainly contends for the Most Exciting Entry(s) award. Last Thursday the replica bark Endeavour sailed in to anchorage while hundreds watched along the shore, a contingent of officials watched from the city pier, aircraft flew low overhead and the city manager joined the escort afloat. She fired a salute in acknowledgement of the Austfalian flag waving ashore, anchored briefly and then put to sea, to return again on Friday morning to please another waterfront crowd, and fire off another salute. The next appear ance (and salvo) will Monday afternoon when Endeavour and her crew leave port to continue their East Coast cruise. Photos bv .Tim Harper
